Our Mission

Think Like A Mountain is a 501c3 nonprofit organization grown from the need to bring together individuals who have a deep seated desire to do more for the planet and all of its inhabitants through actively participating in scientific exploration and conservation initiatives. 

We see the natural world as an interconnected system that is the sum of its parts, rather than discrete parts operating in isolation. In pairing world-renowned scientists with adventurers and athletes, our goal is to make positive and lasting impacts in the areas of conservation, environment, and scientific exploration.

A term coined by Aldo Leopold, to Think Like A Mountain means to have a complete appreciation for the profound interconnectedness and intricate web of the natural environment, rather than thinking as an isolated individual.

Only the mountain has lived long enough to listen objectively to the howl of a wolf....We reached the old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes. I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me in those eyes - something known only to her and to the mountain. I was young then, and full of trigger-itch; I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters’ paradise.
